Resources Don’t Exist… Until We Say They Do.
(Because humans are “royal” 👑 like that.)
Author: Charlaine Baartjes
Ever noticed how something is “just stuff”… until we decide it’s a resource?
Oil? 🛢️ Used to be a sticky mess dinosaurs couldn’t escape from. Now a commodity.
Silicon? 💻 Just beach sand—until it started running our lives.
Plastic waste? 🧴 Yesterday’s trash. Today’s designer chair. Tomorrow’s business model.
So what is the truth?
Resources are not born: they’re declared.
Like royalty. We decide them. They exist in our cumulative heads.
So what does this mean for sustainability and business?
✔️ Waste? More like “resource with an identity crisis.”
✔️ Innovation? It’s basically adult-level make-believe with a profit margin.
✔️ The future? Belongs to the recyclers, re-thinkers, and re-purposers.
🎯 If value is a choice, what “worthless” thing are we overlooking today that could become tomorrow’s profit margin?
